Web site hub for Mexican government information

Looking for some obscure organization in Mexico or maybe just information on where an English library can be found? The web site www.precisa.gob.mx is the place to look.

The site seems to be the precursor to e-Mexico, which will put all government organizations on the Internet and allow residents to access most government proceedings and paperwork on-line.

The web site contains links to more than 600 government organizations, institutes and programs as well as various other nongovernmental organizations and companies.

The page connects you to information on education, the environment, secretariats, armed forces, state governments, health and exterior relations plus non-government connections to the media, political parties, businesses and syndicates.

The site also contains news and up-to-date information on programs and projects the government is starting. It even has connections to sites for kids including one in English with general information on Mexico, its' government and the indigenous population.

The only drawback to the site may be the tact that most of the information is only available in Spanish.

The site was started during the administration of former president Ernesto Zedillo in an attempt to provide the public with more access to information on the Mexican government via the Internet.
